THE FULL PICTURE

UAC

Technology in today’s world has been greatly inspired by science fiction: the imagination,  or by nature: an eternal reality. The unrestrained power of imagination has led us to create the world as it is today and we are inspired daily by the things that surround us. Urban Artisans Collaborative captures the essence of these inspirations in its “accent” furniture products through concepts both big and small. Our contemporary forms have come to life through an amalgamation of modern ideas that are relevant today as well as newer curiosities as the times grow and change. We pride ourselves in our ability to adapt and weave stories from simple concepts which lead to the creation of unique designs; ever so often either complex or deceivingly subtle.

OUR STORY

THE VISION

Urban Artisans Collaborative is a boutique furniture studio started by architects. UAC strives to disrupt the furniture landscape by bringing to you refreshing designs with the utmost dedication to finish and detailing. An eclectic blend of designs that are a mix of never seen before as well as timeless classics, UAC hopes to become a brand catering to diverse needs. We believe that every space can be further elevated with an “accent” furniture piece which we hope to deliver to your spaces. We work with skilled artisans across the city of Mumbai which brings about our name, “Urban Artisans Collaborative”. UAC hopes to integrate many of these skilled craftsmen over time to bring to you handcrafted and unique furniture.

FOUNDERS

Druhan Chhugani

From the age of 5, Druhan has been experimenting with various forms of art. Academics may never have been his strong suit but creating things always aligned with his personality. He poured all his curiosity and thirst for exploration into his arts styles and love for design. This drove him to challenge himself by participating in many competitive fine arts events against people from all across the country. After completing his architecture studies from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA), Druhan embarked on a journey to explore his strengths and craft. Having worked with renowned firms with the likes of Malik and Rahul Mehrotra Architects, he then started his own design journey taking on various projects of architecture, interior and product design. This period of exploration allowed him to discover his true passion for designing artful yet functional furniture pieces. A burning desire to put out pieces that were unlike most furniture seen before, the idea for UAC was born.

Amrit Nagpal

Also an architect from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA), Amrit’s interest lay in the finer details and processes that went behind various projects. Having worked with the likes of Collective Project and Devika Narain and Company she cemented her eye for aesthetics, while working with some of the biggest clients and companies. A want to create an alliance between Indian craftsmanship and contemporary design, brought her to co-found UAC with Druhan.
